Belgium PESTLE Insights – A Macroeconomic Outlook Report

According to MarketLine estimates, in 2022, financial intermediation, real estate and business activities contributed 30.8% towards GVA, followed by mining, manufacturing and utilities (17.7%), and wholesale, retail, hotels (12.7%). The three sectors are forecast to grow by 3.8%, 2.4%, and 4.1%, respectively, in 2023.

The Flemish region is among the best performing regions in Belgium. It contributed 59% of GDP and comprised 57.7% of the Belgian population in 2021, according to EuroStat.

The BEL20 Index exhibited a volatile trend over past year. As of February 14, 2023, the Index stood at 3,914.2, compared to 4,004.9 on February 14, 2022.

Scope

As of June 2022, Belgium would receive EUR120 million ($126.4 million) from the European Union for infrastructure projects
